Tape- Help!?

So…. This book came across my desk today….. And I don’t even know where to start with this tape…. Help???

    Hi Sarah,

    The acidity of the tape has really destroyed the paper but don't worry there are still things to do to make it better. You could buy some de-acidification spray to keep it from getting worse. But assuming it is not worth a big investment of time and money here is what to do. Remove any of the plastic tape "carrier" that is still present. It should just fall off at this stage of decay. Then cover all the brown areas with Japanese tissue and paste. It will look better and will help keep the acid from transferring. You could also use document repair tape for this.  Let me know if you have more questions!

      My work won't let me make any more purchases of supplies right now, otherwise, I would jump on getting that spray.

      The page that has been damaged is actually quite a bit smaller than the rest of the text block. Do I just use the techniques shown in "Page Repair: How to Fill in Losses Along Page Edges" to make it big enough to fit?
