Restoring an old Bible

Restoring an old Bible with paper back (in bad state); I’ve seen several videos of Sophia, but my English (I am Dutch) is not so good. So may be I missed the answer.

I want to improve the paper back (corners and also the shoulders) and and the front and back-cover. How can I “harden” the paper ?

You could try splitting the paper cover and then strengthening with Japanese tissue and paste. The typical paperback is formed with two pieces of paper attached together.
