I have a vintage children’s paper book c 1949-1958, 6 large pages, folded in half and stapled at the spine. Pages are all fully illustrated top to bottom. The book is starting to seperate (pages tearing) at the folded spine. Is there a transparent tissue/tape that can be used so tall of the illustrations can be seen and the value not lessened much, although it is priceless to us. Photo shows opened book with back and front visible.

The hinging tissue (sold here and through Talas) is very thin and nearly transparent. Alternately, you could use Document Repair Tape which is also nearly transparent. Preserving illustrations is such a tricky thing. Both of these solutions can be undone so they are pretty safe to try out.
