Book Cover and Spine

0

Old book written by distant relative. 7″ x 4 1/2″.  Needs new cover and spine. I removed old cover but left profile on cover which appears to be embossed.  It looks attractive so I’d like to incorporate it in the new cover.  See photos.

While this may seem the obvious course for you as you have not actually fully broken the inner hinge, https://saveyourbooks.com/course/2-202-new-cloth-spine-for-book-with-inner-hinges-intact/

Instead, you need to break that inner hinge and make a new cover (using the old boards) but create an inset panel for the embossed decorative section you saved. This is literally just removing some of the board. I have not made a video for this yet.

Possibly even more helpful will be to watch my YouTube series on restoring the Fairy Tales book. Someday, I will turn that into a lesson but for now you will have to wade through the whole thing. It creates a new spine for a book.

Thanks very much.  Does the YouTube series or episode have a name I should look for?

The Fairy Tales Live Restoration Series. Look in the Playlists. :)
